Jeff and Hunter, two struggling writers, hear about a new musical theatre festival. However, the deadline for submissions is a mere three weeks away. With nothing to lose, the pair decides to try to create something new with the help of their friends Susan, Heidi and Larry on the eighty-eights. With the cast in place, Jeff and Hunter begin a conversation about what to write about. Eventually, Jeff suggests they write about what to write about. They make a pact to write up until the festival's deadline and dream about the show changing their lives. [title of show] -- taken from the space on the festival's application form which asks for the "[title of show]" -- follows Hunter and Jeff and their friends on their journey through the gauntlet of creative self-expression. In the span of 90 minutes, they write and perform their show at the festival and learn lessons about themselves as people, friends and artists.

Character Breakdown
Jeff - Male
Mid- to late 30s; tenor/bari-tenor (C3-G4); the show's composer, a Broadway enthusiast who especially likes obscure musicals and collects Playbills from shows that ran 50 performances or less; loves bird watching, computer games, and comic book heroes (especially Wonder Woman); a realist; while he has a great passion for creating, he worries about what others will think of his work.
Hunter - Male
Mid- to late 30s; high tenor (C3-B5 in full voice); writes the book for the musical; dreams about making it to Broadway and one day winning a Tony Award; enjoys watching trashy reality television and 1980s' mega musicals; gets sweaty under his left armpit when nervous, and is often a little too eager to please.
Heidi - Female
Mid- to late 30s; mezzo/alto with a strong, high belt as well as good projection of lower notes (F3-F#5 in belt); Jeff's friend; "uptown and fancy and Brooklyn"; has Broadway experience but still wants to make it big; grew up listening to cast recordings and has made performing her life's work; reluctant at first about being friends with the new girl, Susan.
Susan - Female
Mid- to late 30s; alto with strong belt as well as good projection of lower notes (F3-C5 in belt); Hunter's friend; "downtown and funky and sassy"; truly an individual; an artist who portrays the reality for many in the performing arts industry, maintaining a day job to support her artistic endeavors; enjoys turkey burgers and encouraging others to achieve their creative potential (aka killing vampires); has some doubts about her singing ability and is, at first, reluctant about being friends with the new girl, Heidi.
