Acting the Song

For Ages 14 to Adult

Make a song come alive through your acting choices. Actors are storytellers; it is not just about having a fabulous voice. You must convey a story when performing a song in an audition. Develop the skills to act a song as a monologue or a scene. Students will create an acting journey in a musical theatre song with analysis of the text, music and character intention. Each student should bring sheet music of a vocally prepared piece. An accompanist and vocal coach will be provided during specific classes in order to put these acting techniques to use. This course will culminate in a final showcase.
