Discovering Art, Education,
In addition to presenting surrounding communities with high caliber entertainment, the Stadium Theatre also offers a broad spectrum of educational programming designed to offer children and young adults the opportunity to develop an appreciation for the arts.
The Stadium’s ‘Kid’s Kamp’ program nurtures that aesthetic appreciation while also teaching children the basics of theater and performance in a fun and safe environment. In this program, participants study and develop acting, dancing, and singing skills with experienced directors, choreographers and musical directors.
'Stadium Theatre Workshops' are designed to teach aspiring actors a variety of acting techniques through theater games, improvisation, monologues, and scene study. Each workshop is led by experienced and knowledgeable instructors who specialize in the workshop’s field of study.
The Young Actors Academy (YAA) is a 12 week musical theater education series for children ages 5 to 10, designed to offer budding artists the opportunity to participate in all aspects of a musical theatre performance while taking part in the rehearsal processes and ultimately the final production.
The Theatre’s ‘Imagination Series’ offers entertaining educational programming throughout the school year to children of all ages. On the Stadium stage, international and regional presenters perform for students during school hours. At the Stadium we believe that every child should experience the arts, and that’s why Imagination Series performances are sign language interpreted for the hearing impaired courtesy of Jon Henry.
Introducing the theater arts to children has never been more important. The Stadium Theatre Performing Arts Centre presents its educational programming to thousands of children each year, with a goal to spark and foster the creative genius of the world’s future artists.
